article by Mark Anthony The girls and ladies section held an open day at Aberaman Park on Sunday which proved to be a great success with plenty of activities and fun throughout the day. All of our teams from the under 7s right up to the seniors were in attendance.  There were bouncy castles, skills sessions and mini games for the kids and several local companies also attended to support the event and promote their business. To a background of music a Foozeball tournament took place in the club house along with a FIFA tournament on the screen,  The day was rounded off watching the Euro 2017 Womens final meaning  the only female section in the Cynon Valley had a very positive day. Aberdare sign three more Thursday 10th August 2017 article by Ian Pearce On the eve of the new Welsh League season Aberdare Town have added three more faces to their first team squad. After missing part of pre-season through injury Rob Blatchford has now signed forms having impressed last season for Aberdare after joining midway through the season.  Also signing on is full back Ben Gibbs who joins from St Blazey in Cornwall who play in the South West Peninsula League and defender Andrew Ellis who joins from AFC Llwydcoed where he played last season. Gibbs however is still in the process of awaiting international clearance and is therefore unavailable for selection until authorisation is given by the Welsh FA. We welcome both Ben and Andrew to the Club and hope they have an enjoyable and successful time at Aberaman Park. Town show good signs in final friendly Saturday 5th August 2017 article by Ian Pearce Aberdare Town’s final warm up game saw them draw with Welsh League Division One side Cwmamman. Aber impressed throughout the game and deservedly took a second half lead through Mitchell Boyce who was excellent during the game and could have been further ahead if chances had been taken. Cwmamman hit back against the run of play with their goal coming from the penalty spot with 20 minutes left. Signs are certainly positive ahead of Friday nights opening league game when Aber visit Risca (ko 7.30pm). The Reserves meanwhile suffered a 4-0 loss to Llanharry in their latest friendly encounter. Under 13s impress in mini-tour Tuesday 1st August 2017 article by Ian Pearce Aberdare Town’s awsome Under 13 squad have taken part in a mini Wales tour this week playing Newton and TNS. The opening game of the tour saw Aber beat Newton Academy 4-3 while the second game saw a 3-0 defeat at the impressive TNS stadium.  Both Academies are from clubs in the Welsh Premier League so makes the results and performances show what a great group of players the Club have. Thanks go to the coaches and parents for taking their own time to take the boys away and as always they were a credit to the Club. Aber in narrow defeat over the bridge Saturday 29th July 2017 article by Ian Pearce Aberdre Town’s penultimate friendly game saw them make the trip across the bridge to face Toolstation Western League side Clevedon Town. Another good performance by Aber saw them in control for long periods of the game but failed to find a break through and the hosts managed to take a half-time lead.  Aberdare had what appeared a good goal disallowed for offside but again there were plenty of positive signs ahead of the start of the season in two weeks time. The Reserves meanwhile went down 2-1 against Neuadd Wen Bargoed with man of the match Cory Thomas on the scoresheet. The Club will be playing at home on Saturday (5th) with Cwmamman visiting Aberaman Park in the last friendly before the league action gets underway away to Risca United. Town beat Pontlottyn 6-3 Tuesday 25th July 2017 article by Ian Pearce A trip to Pontlottyn was next on the cards for the first team squad as they edge towards the start of the new season and it was in this game they found their scoring boots notching six times with five different scorers. The Aber performance was excellent which again bodes well for the start of the league action and goals came from Elliott Morris, Richard Ingram, Matthew Flynn, Stephen Chappell and a double from Josh Powell. The second half saw a number of changes and formations for Town using the friendlies as they are meant in order to experiment. Meanwhile the Club are delighted to announce that goalkeeper Clint Forbes has signed again while another new face is Shay Friel who joins from AFC Llwydcoed  and has previously been with the Club as well as being a youth player at Merthyr. There was also a pre-season win this evening for last years all conquering under 12’s side who are now competing at Under 13 level and beat a strong Whitchurch side 3-1 as the future of the Club looks promising.
