Grasshoppers
In the summer of 2025 the Club made the decision to bring back
an important part of our past as we re-introduced the well known
name of Grasshoppers as part of our structure.
Grasshoppers are now the name of our MINI football section which plays on a
Saturday morning in the Aberdare Valley Football League.
Matches are played in a round-robin type arrangement each week playing
against other teams and are for children in school years 1 (Under 6s) through to
and including year 6 (Under 11s).
Scores are not recorded or published and it is all about working as a team,
developing social skills and above all having fun. Friendships can be built and
maintained for many years coming through as a team together and hopefully
one day our little Grasshoppers will be running out for the senior team!
All registered Grasshoppers will receive a player pass for themselves and an
adult to gain free entry to all our senior team’s home games.
Grasshoppers is a name that is well known in football
within the valley having been one of the biggest
provision of children’s football for many years.
The
Grasshoppers
merged
with
the
Club
to
form
our
first
ever
mini
and
junior
section
and
was
spearheaded
back
then
by
Chris
Welch, Steve Pearce and Wayne Holder to name just three.
Presentation
nights
and
training
were
always
well
attended
and
was the opening experiences of many local players into football.
We take great delight in bringing the name back in 2025.
